MyCleanPC.com SCAM?

SCAM ALERT

As a long time computer support technician, this really gets my blood boiling! I have worked in the computer industry since 1998 and I loathe “PC repair” companies like Best Buy and Staples (just to name a couple).  I consider these to be way over-priced, and not as effective as someone who was not corporately trained.

However, the most egregious SCAM comes from these “PC repair” TV commercials.  Lets just look at one in particular that I see nearly ever day… mycleanpc.com.   After Googling these guys for five minutes, my blood went from boiling to seething!  Over 700 Negative complaints to the Better Business Bureau in the last 36 months. You read that right… over 700 complaints in 3 years.  They currently have a “C” rating with the BBB (which is generous, but the BBB is not a good indicator of a business… that’s another topic).  These types of companies give my professional a huge black eye and cause the general public to distrust many outstanding IT support professionals.

It still boggles my mind how many people have been duped by this. It boggles my mind, even farther, that they are still in business! Their “free” scan will always yield negative results (even on a brand new PC just turned on for the first time), and their packages (for a standard virus removal) rise upwards of a few hundred dollars!

After looking into the company a bit further, you will see that the company is owned by CyberDefender, another WELL KNOWN malware (virus) “company”.  They also run several similar websites you may have heard of too:

www.ustechsupport.com

www..mycleanpc.com

www.CleanPCNow.com

www.MaxMySpeed.com

Now, why would a company with a legitimate business need to have multiple websites masquerading as different companies all providing the same service… or disservice?  <RED FLAG>

The bottom line is this: if it sounds too good to be true, most times, it is. Do yourself a favor, and stay away from this company, this product, this “disservice”. This MyCleanPC.com SCAM will only hurt you and your wallet.

If you feel you have been infected, or your computer is running slow; give us a call and we can help.  If you like the idea of having someone access your computer remotely and fix problems, we offer that as well.  Besides, you should NEVER allow someone you do not know to access your PC.  Even if you decide to use another computer support company, please use one that you can trust.  Preferably, one that enables you access to local support.  Nothing beats being able to have a face-to-face with the people you are giving your business to.  Here is our contact info:  Carolina Computer Concepts – (803)320-1552 or (980)224-3279.  Feel free to call or text either of those numbers.  You may also email us at support@carolinacomputer.net.

If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is!

Don’t waste your money on these programs that give you a “Free diagnosis”. They will lie about the results and make it look a lot worse than it is. They will NOT fix your computer properly and will most likely do more damage than good. Why else would a company create so many different business names all relating to the same product? Why are they trying to hide the fact that they are a KNOWN MALWARE COMPANY? Do some research on Google, with millions of articles, rip-off reports and angry people all over the world.. why would you trust them?  :)

Just because you see it on TV doesn’t make it legit.  Just because you read about it on the Internet doesn’t make it true either.  Be diligent and do your homework before trusting any service provider… not just computer support companies!
